It’s no secret the Divas can’t comprehend why someone would voluntarily say no to such wonderful things like lardo, foie gras and perfectly crispy skin on a duck breast. We’re carnivorous creatures – but some people choose to go vegan, that’s their choice and it just means more meat for us!

That being said, we’re also open minded and love trying new things. Well we try to be! So when we were invited to the media night at LOV, a new vegetarian/vegan restaurant in Old Montreal, we were excited to see what they were all about. And we were impressed with the items that we sampled … even though we didn’t have any meat or seafood!

We started off with crudités, or fresh vegetables with a delicious dip. It was smooth, and clean tasting. Definitely something we’d love to see at a dinner party. This is also a versatile dip, you could easily have enjoyed it with pita chips and we’ll be back for more!

Next we had the roasted cauliflower with pine nuts and pomegranate seeds.  We loved this little bite!  The roasted cauliflower brought out a slight nuttiness which paired well with the buttery pine nuts. The pomegranate seeds added some tartness and freshness!

we also tried the carrot ginger soup which we adored. Though ginger is a strong flavour it did not in any way take over the soup, it only enhanced it. It was creamy and smooth and perfect for some of Montreal’s colder days!

We were impressed with what we tried at LOV so much so that we’re looking forward to going back and checking out more of their menu, and heartier winter dishes. You can be sure this will be a popular spot in the warmer months for their lighter vegetarian dishes!
