Winter in Montreal

Winter in Montreal can be brutal. But no matter how much snow we get, our city doesn’t shut down, unlike our less than hearty neighbours from the south. We get out there and dig our car out or stand in line and wait for the bus to get to where we’re going. And we don’t just mean work, Montrealers go out and enjoy life even during the most grueling cold months. We even have Igloofest, an outdoor music festival in the middle of winter – something is seriously wrong with us!

Because Montrealers do not shy away from winter activities, and we don’t mean skiing and snowboarding, we mean activities perfect for city dwellers. There are plenty of festivals, events and activities throughout the season and even some terraces are open! And while we admit that we prefer the après-ski rather than actual skiing, we sometimes partake in outdoor activities, à la Montreal style.

If you’re going to make winter bearable in Montreal you’re going to have to keep warm. For us that means sporting Noize Original jackets, whether we’re at Montreal en Lumière, going to Cabane à Sucre Au Pied de Cochon, or checking out Igloofest, we just want to keep warm. Founded in 1878, Noize Original is designed in Montreal, and we love supporting local businesses. They deliver stylish jackets and winter coats with faux fur and faux leather accents.

Diva #1 and Sweet Pea, editor in chief of Montreall, spent a gorgeous day in Little Italy roaming around and snapping pictures in Sweet Pea’s Noize Original winter coat. The coat is stylish and trendy, and Sweet Pea has received a lot of compliments on it. Here she is in front of one our favourite restaurants in Little Italy, Ristorante Lucca – we have to admit that we had a lot of fun doing this photo shoot and she remained warm the whole time. She loves the hood too, if you don’t feel like wearing a hat, it’s a great substitute!

Diva #2 chose a different style, she opted for the shorter white coat with a touch of grey in its hue. Here she is holding a pizza from Fiorellino, one of her favourite pizza restaurants in Montreal. She likes her coat so much that she chose to wear it inside – haha! And since Diva #2 uses public transportation, the coat is perfect for keeping her warm, despite the sometimes frigid temperatures.
