Table of Hope 2017

Every year Table of Hope hosts an event to raise money for Share the Warmth.  The Share the Warmth’s School Food Program provides food to 21 Montreal schools all year long, serving approximately 2,500 meals each week.  The program provides food for children who do not benefit from subsidized meal plans.

Let’s just talk about the venue, Le Salon Richmond (or le Salon 1861) is one of the most beautiful venues in Montreal, and trust us we could not get enough of this place. This remodeled church made for a fabulous location to host such a high profile event. We just couldn’t stop taking pictures, it was gorgeous!

This year, the Montreal Food Divas were asked to be ambassadors for the event.  We promoted the event on our social media channels and once at the event, we were paired up with a restaurant to be their sous-chef!  While the Divas don’t normally like taking orders, we had no qualms when it came to helping our host restaurant. We were happily paired with one of our personal favourites, Reuben’s Deli.

The Reuben’s Deli booth was constantly packed; who could blame the crowd for not being able to resist their delicious smoked meat sandwiches!  The smoked meat was cut fresh on-site and piled high on brioche bread with Swiss cheese and deli mustard.

And once the smoked meat disappeared, it was time for dessert and no one does strawberry cheesecake quite like Reuben’s Deli.   We had a great time with the guys from Reuben’s Deli and we’ll be visiting them very soon!

Many other restaurants took part in the Table of Hope event, including Deville Dinerbar which served their infamous beignets, Le Bird Bar with delicious chicken wings, Mandy’s had everyone eating salads, and Dalla Rosa was giving out their heavenly ice cream sandwiches!

Through ticket sales, donations, the silent auction, and more, the total amount raised at this year’s Table of Hope event was an incredible 110,000$.  A lot of hard work goes into organizing this event and it’s a great way to give back to the community.  We were happy to be part of this year’s event and look forward to next year!
