Sweet Pea’s Holiday Eggnog

Now you can make eggnog at home and you can even enjoy it after the holidays are over and the grocery stores stop carrying it. Sweet Pea’s Holiday Eggnog is as sweet as she is, but it’s potent because of the bourbon, actually, it’s a perfect liquid dessert. We once drank 2 pitchers between four people, and knowing Sweet Pea, she added even more bourbon than her recipe calls for.

Sweet Pea’s Holiday Eggnog

  • 4 egg yolks
  • 4 egg whites
  • 1/3 cup sugar + 1 tbsp
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 6 ounces bourbon (sometimes we use dark rum or brandy)
  • Grated nutmeg (to taste)
  • Peppermint flakes (optional)


  1. Mix egg yolks in a mixer until they lighten in colour.
  2. Add in 1/3 cup sugar and mix
  3. Add milk, cream, bourbon, and nutmeg
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk egg whites until soft peaks form
  5. Add 1 tbsp of sugar and beat until stiff peaks form
  6. Whisk egg whites into mixture
  7. Chill, pour, sprinkle with peppermint flakes (optional) and serve
