We keep looking for a brunch spot that we love more than Régine Café but we haven’t been able to find one! This isn’t your two eggs over easy with white toast, potatoes and bacon brunch spot – this is an artisanal brunch experience! With brioche bread, crumpets, scotch eggs and gravlax; expect a sensation for your mouth.
One of our favourite dishes is their grilled cheese – it is anything but typical! Two-year-old Îles-aux-Grues cheddar is a pleasure for cheese lovers. Melted cheese sandwiches caramelized onions and a mango chutney for sweetness, enveloped between two slices of a hearty walnut and pistachio bread. And trust us, add the duck confit, we have never ordered this grilled cheese without adding the duck confit, it’s worth it!
Another Diva favourite is the Champi, poached eggs with more of their delicious rustic bread, Le Sorcier cheese and mushrooms with sage. All the flavours are perfectly incorporated to melt in your mouth and tickle your senses. You can swap your poached eggs for a Scotch egg, which is a hard boiled egg wrapped in sausage meat that is then coated in bread crumbs and fried.
We used to always order the Tartine but rumour has it that they took it off the menu in favour of the Mish Mash, but fret not, they are similar enough! The Tartine was made up of tomatoes with scrambled eggs, spicy sausage and ricotta cheese on top of their rustic bread that we are so fond of. The Mish Mash is a scrambled omelet of the day with seasonal vegetables and local cheese – perhaps they will toss in Tartine-like ingredients in the Mish Mash – If you’re so lucky!
Who is Régine? She is an imaginary aunt who spoils and dotes on her café’s guests. Even the décor is eclectic like an eccentric aunt’s home, we adore it! Sadly, there are no reservations on weekends but brunch is served until 3pm, perfect for late risers like the Divas. Check out Régine Café, you wont regret it!
