It’s only February and Kimberly Lallouz, who is behind Monsieur Resto+Bar, Miss Pret à Manger and Le Bird Bar & HenDen, is the boss lady of 2017! She’s quickly becoming an all powerful Montreal woman who isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty and start shucking oysters behind the scenes of her newest venture, Restaurant du MAC in the MAC museum.
Her newest venture, Restaurant du MAC is located in the MAC Museum on the exhibition gallery floor. The Restaurant du MAC offers healthy but always gourmet options in a relaxed environment. The menu will be changing every month, finding that perfect balance between healthy and gourmet food. It’s part upscale cafeteria, part little lunch spot, but a light dinner is also available.
We were there for their opening event, trying a few canapés that were representative of the menu. The menu will include breakfast, lunch, snacks and a light supper made with local ingredients – this Montreal museum now has a Montreal restaurant! And if that’s not enough, Restaurant du MAC also has a catering service for private and public events.
Located in the hustle and bustle of Quartier des Spectacles, the MAC museum has brought together both local and international artists for more than 50 years. With both a permanent collection and room for temporary exhibitions, it promotes Montreal and Quebec culture. The restaurant hopes to do the same with an emphasis on local ingredients and Montreal cuisine.
During the event, light ambiance setting music was heard from the DJ booth. And the space, quite open and comfortable, is perfect for a little museum restaurant. Unfortunately, we didn’t try very many canapés so we’re quite eager to return and see what this little spot has in store for Montreal. We did enjoy a great many oysters, but we have a fetish for those little bivalves!
With dishes like a citrus fig salad with asparagus, goat cheese, and a balsamic reduction on the menu, as well as beef carpaccio with tomatoes, hazelnuts and more balsamic reduction, let’s just say that we are salivating and eager to try some of these fantastic looking dishes. We’ll let you know all about it when we make our way back dear readers!
And if you’re just looking for a good cup of coffee, a slice of cake or a little snack after your run of the museum, well Restaurant du MAC will take care of that too!
