Sometimes, we are left speechless. A rare feat…
The Divas were invited to a Summer Soirée hosted by Grey Goose Canada at the de Gaspé Beaubien mansion in upper Westmount. This was a house party taken to the next level.
We pulled in to the lavish estate and were greeted by valet. We made our way up the stone steps, glass of Grey Goose vodka and Perrier in hand and felt like we stepped onto the set of a movie. We were on a sprawling lawn of the mansion which had two Grey Goose Vodka bars, DJ booth, waterfalls, white leather couches and later on in the evening, a white horse and synchronized swimmers. It’s safe to say that all house parties are hereafter ruined!
The bar offered various Grey Goose /Perrier cocktails mixed with fresh herbs and vodka flavours, including orange, lemon, dark cherry and pear. We loved the orange and dark cherry mixed with Perrier, definitely something we will be mixing up at home.
Our dear Day Jobs & the NightLife (who has phenomenal footwear as we do) and Food Guy Montreal also wrangled us some drinks when the wait at the bar was too long. Such gentlemen! And they say that chivalry is dead, it was roaring at the Grey Goose Canada, Montreal event.
When we weren’t mesmerized by our surroundings, we nabbed some bites to eat. The watermelon and feta with mint was light and refreshing, perfect for a summer soirée. Whoever did the catering was truly an expert, their canapés were some of the best that we had ever tried at an event.
Trays of various sushi and maki rolls were also passed around paired perfectly with our Grey Goose cocktails. We loved the little tubes of soya sauce that were inserted in each piece of sushi, if you lifted them and squeezed the tube soya sauce was injected into the rice. This attention to the detail was marvelous!
We tried the crostini of velvety smooth goat cheese topped with diced red beets. A perfect bite of heaven! People kept filling up the lavish lawn, we walked around and noticed a mini putt section, a chair on a swing and other garden seating that was absolutely fabulous; it was a true Diva experience!
The beet theme continued with the salmon gravlax which was also a vibrant coral colour, its edges stained beet red. We couldn’t get enough of the canapés! Although we are all about the food, this event was so much more than that, we felt like we were part of the Montreal socialite scene, and to think we were just expecting the usual event.
When you attend as many food events as we do, you learn a few tricks. Luckily, we ran into one of the guys from 514 Eats who simply rested the duck confit puff on top of his drink to keep one hand free. He’s brilliant and this ensured a free hand to eat the canapé without losing your cocktail.
There were also adult pigs in a blanket, served with different Maille mustards. Pieces of hot dogs were wrapped in puff pastry and skewered for everyone’s delight. This was a real treat and we were soon hunting the waitresses with these treats on trays. The honey mustard Maille was our absolute favourite!
In between the delicious food and the flowing cocktails, there was a white horse in a top hat roaming around (would you expect anything less from a mansion party?!) and when you have a pond-like swimming pool and waterfall on your property, it only seems fitting that there would also be synchronized swimmers performing a little show! We now know what paradise looks like in Montreal!
The night continued with more bloggers and friends coming and going. The party was getting pretty full and the bars were running out of the different flavoured vodkas. A successful event does tend to get rowdy, its guests boozy and the bar low on liquor.
A cool little detail which we loved was the fact that if you used the hashtag of the night, #SummerSoirée, they printed your photo and attached it to one of the balloons which you could take home. The Grey Goose Canada event in Montreal was simply the place to see and be seen at this lavish mansion equipped with bodyguards so that you would only go to the washrooms and not roam the house – we tried…
Summer in Montreal is hard to beat. A summer soirée at a mansion with friends is simply fabulous and something the Divas can easily get used to! The food was delicious, the drinks plentiful and the atmosphere divine. If you only went to one party this summer, the Grey Goose Summer Soirée was the one to be at!
