When we think of rum, we automatically think of mojitos, summer and drinking on a terrace. But with the right ingredients, rum can also be warm and soothing.
Let us introduce you to Chic Choc Spiced Rum, a Canadian rum using various spices from Quebec’s Chic Choc Mountain region on the Gaspé Peninsula, making it the first spiced rum from Quebec. And we love supporting local products!
This young rum debuted less than two years ago and is lighter in colour, as well as spiciness, especially in comparison to the usual spiced rums on the market. There’s a balance between spicy and sweet with the six natural plants and spices which are: whiterod berries, lovage root, wild angelica, pine forest spikenard, sweet gale and peppery green alder. Delish!
The St. Lawrence Sparkler was not our favourite but we did substitute sparkling cider in place of the champagne, since we had it on hand. But we figured rum and apple would be a good combination! Perhaps, the vanilla was too overpowering. In any case, mix up this drink and give it a try for yourselves, it was just a touch too sweet to be our favourite, we like our cocktails robust, like our men 😉
