About Us

Who are the Montreal Food Divas?

The Food Divas have been frequenting Montreal restaurants on Thursdays since November 2011. Montreal is known for its French cuisine (and we love our tartare), so we tend to go to French restaurants. In some (most) circles , we are known for causing trouble, therefore, our Thursday nights are reserved for plotting (bitching), drinking (getting tipsy) and eating great food (gluttonous indulgence)  with great company (an unholy alliance). We welcome suggestions and love a good raw meal. Our rating system will be based on decor, atmosphere, service, the quality of the ingredients and the originality of the menu. The ratings are listed from best to worst:

  • Always on Thursdays – We are already planning our next visit
  • Splendid – Can’t wait to tell our friends
  • As Expected – Met our expectations
  • Meh! – We probably won’t be going back soon unless there are some changes
  • Never on Thursdays – Enough said

Diva #1’s father is a chef/restauranteur, and she is an avid cook herself, having taken pastry classes at the Cordon Bleu in Ottawa. Diva #2 used to edit “Chuck’s Day Off” with Montreal’s own Chuck Hughes, and is currently a freelance editor at a local magazine. We just love food and want to share our Montreal dining experiences.

I read your bio and have a couple questions about you; Diva 1’s father is a chef/restauranteur for what restaurant and Diva 2 is a writer for which magazine?

    Sportandplay …Keep your pants on!

Though we monitor our site continuously, we do have Diva lives to live. And part of that involves staying anonymous. So unfortunately, we can’t tell you what resto or magazine we are associated with but we can tell you that we take a size 10 and size 8, respectively, in heels, in case you were curious ;o)
    xoxo

BIG FEET, No worries my pants are officially on!! On another note I posted my first entry at 7:30AM and then again at around 6PM and on both occasions your website printed the wrong time. You should fix your clock settings, its annoying. From your reply I can only surmise that your credentials are as exciting as telling us your shoe sizes. I doubt the paparazzi bothering you too much. I guess this is a case of people who hide their achievements usually don’t have many. My dad worked as a chef, and I used to edit for a cooking show isn’t really much of a bio.

Glad to hear you are keeping it PG for us! As for the clock, on a scale of 1 to 10, how much does it annoy you?
And to answer you once again, we are anonymous, therefore, we choose not to reveal information about ourselves. If we did, our bio would have been much different.

Why is Sportandplay harassing you girls? Stop coming to their site if they suck so much TROLL!

Dear Diva’s, Please better monitor your web site with respect to keeping it safe from cyber-bully’s such as Jessie who made both threatening and name calling comments towards at Sport&Play. Do you endorse these comments or will you delete them and consider banning Jessie? Cyber-bullying has been identified as a major source of teen anxiety and even suicide. Most Internet sites including Urbanspoon.com where my children go and then take the link to your site has a zero tolerance cyber-bulling policy which you too should endorse. Failing this I will make a formal complaint about this situation to Urbanspoon.com directly myself. Thank you.

    • Food Divas April 21, 2013 at 5:19 am Reply

We will not be cyber-bullied by YOU into deleting comments off of OUR site.We are very sorry that you feel this way. Jessie did not make a threatening comment, it was really nice to have someone defend us from sport&play who went onto many of our posts and harassed us, we are in fact the ones who felt bullied. This is not a site for children, it is about restaurants all of which serve alcohol and we often discuss excessive drinking, dating and other topics only suitable for viewers over 18. If you feel the need to launch a formal complaint, please do so.

Keep up the great work Divas, I enjoy reading your reviews, and stay anonymous that’s what makes it mysterious. If there are people who do not like it (no names mentioned) I say, don’t follow . And I love it that it is for adults only 🙂
